A while back, Macks had the idea of running some of his own mixes through his Tascam 388 tape machine to add some grit and analogue character, and the results were so good that he started using it on many of his clients' mixes. It has since proven so popular that he's now decided to offer this as a specific service.
The 388 is a legendary reel-to-reel tape machine dating back to 1985. It was the first ever 1/4" reel-to-reel multitrack tape recorder and mixer combined. It has since become a highly sought-after piece of kit, and has steadily grown in popularity thanks to artists such as Mac DeMarco, Alex Turner, Pond, Madlib and Andy Shauf.
Macks began recording on this machine in his early teens, and has over 20 years experience on the unit used at REX, so your recordings are in safe hands.
